All paper transcript delivery may be delayed due to unexpected events, such as extreme weather or health safety constraints. If you need a transcript AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, please request an ELECTRONIC PDF.

  • Transcripts are only official when sent directly from IU to the recipient listed on the request. If opened, or accessed, and shared with another party, transcripts are then considered unofficial.
  • Electronic transcripts are official transcripts. Many institutions now prefer electronic transcripts instead of paper transcripts. Please confirm with your recipient which format they prefer.
  • You may request electronic PDF and paper transcripts using any method below. Requests are usually processed within 1-3 business days. Requests cannot be placed over the phone. We recommend placing your request online.
  • Put where the official transcript(s) needs to go directly to into the recipient fields on your request. Be careful of Auto-fill and Autocorrect!
  • Official Indiana University transcripts are free. Expedited delivery of paper transcripts is available for a fee.
  • Pay for express delivery charges online with a credit or debit card.
  • Express Delivery cannot be made to a PO (Post Office) Box. Please use a shipping address provided by your recipient instead.
  • IU cannot attach forms to be sent with electronic PDF transcripts. See the Sending Transcripts with Attachments option below for more information.
  • Sending your transcript to a secure network (military or government) email address?Review our FAQ for helpful tips.
  • IU Transcripts are not able to be sent securely via fax. See below for delivery options.
  • Indiana University does not charge a fee for official transcripts.If you are attempting to order more than 3 copies, or have multiple requests for the same recipient address, we reserve the right to ask for justification before processing the request.

Depending on the situation, you may only require your unofficial transcript and not your official transcript. Please review the option "Unofficial Transcript" for steps on how to access and save your unofficial transcript from One.IU.

Request Electronic & Paper Transcripts Online

Current, or recently enrolled, students who haveactive IU computing accountsand know their username and passphrase can request their transcript online using the button below. Some students may be able to bill transcript charges to their bursar account. This is the fastest way to place your request.

Request Electronic & Paper Transcripts Online

There are two online transcript request systems available for former students. We recommend using the fully automated system as it is our fastest method to place your request. If you encounter any issues with the fully automated system, or meet any of the criteria below, please instead use the manually processed Signature Request system to request electronic and paper transcripts.

Option 1: Fully Automated system

The fully automated system can process requests and send electronic PDF transcripts outside of normal business hours. This is the fastest way to request your transcript. Please note that you will be asked to answer a series of questions to verify your identity. After two unsuccessful attempts, you will not be able to place a request through the fully automated system for 30 days. If you are unable to use the fully automated system, please instead use the Signature Request system to request electronic and paper transcripts.

Please use the Signature Request method if:

  • Unable to use the fully automated system
  • Former IPFW or current IU Fort Wayne students
  • High School Only (Dual Credit or Advanced College Prep) Students who did not setup a One.IU account or cannot login
  • Former Students with records containing coursework from earlier than 1965

Signature Request is a two step system to request electronic and paper transcripts. The request is placed online and then manually processed using your handwritten signature. We must have a signed authorization from the student to release their transcript. We are unable to accept typed, electronic signatures (ex. Docu-Sign) at this time. A handwritten signature is required.

*If you last attended IU or are requesting records from before 1965, you are encouraged to call our Transcript Information line at (812) 855-4500 prior to placing an online request. Requests of this nature require special review, so we may recommend using the Signature Request system to better meet your needs.

*If you attended the IU School of Medicine, please complete anIUSM Records Request Form. This is for medical school credentialing only and NOT for use by current students.

Current, or former, students who only completed High School Advanced College Prep (ACP) and Dual Credit coursework may request electronic and paper transcripts using any method below. If you created a One.IU account, completed your IU coursework recently, and remember your login credentials, you may request your transcript here.

  • Courses taken for Indiana University credit while in high school will appear on your IU transcript.
  • Be sure to list where you want the transcript to go directly to into the Recipient Fields. The transcript will only be official to the recipient listed on the request. If accessed and then shared, the transcript will be considered unofficial.
  • If you are sending this to another university, make sure you know the email or physical address where they want the transcript sent directly to before placing your request. Feel free to reach out to them for that information.
  • Note: If you recently completed ACP/dual credit coursework in a Spring term, please wait to place your request until the end of June for grades to be posted to your IU transcript. Please contact the ACP Office at acp@indiana.edudirectly for questions.

Indiana University cannot send attachments with electronic PDF transcripts. You must requesta paper transcript.

While IU uses Parchment as a secure, email-delivery vendor for electronic transcripts, many Centralized Application Services (CAS), such as AMCAS, LSAC, AACOMAS, CASPA, PTCAS, NursingCAS, OptomCAS, ADEA, etc., do not accept the specific IU PDF transcript file type.

Instead, the CAS may provide you with attachment(s) to be sent with your IU paper transcript.

  • These may be called transcript matching forms, transcript request forms, or transcript ID forms. You do not necessarily need to mail in these forms, simply follow the steps below.
  • If you have questions on where to locate the CAS provided form, please contact the CAS directly.
  • If you are sending your transcript to World Education Services (WES), please review our FAQ for detailed steps.

Request Transcript Sent with Form Online:

Option 2: Signature Request (manually processed)

If you cannot use the fully automated system, please use the Signature Request system. This system is placed online and manually processed. Please allow 1-3 business days for processing.Your request cannot be processed until your handwritten signature has been received and any express delivery fees are paid.

Note: Express delivery cannot go to a Post Office Box (PO Box). Select Regular Mail to go to a PO Box or provide a shipping address for express delivery.

Step 1: Please put where you want the transcript to go directly to into the Recipient Fields. Select "Review Request" to go over the details and pay for any express delivery charges.

Step 2:Sign the Step 2 authorization page and return it to our office with any forms to send attached to transcript. Most people email the completed authorization page and forms.

VERY IMPORTANT: You do not upload your attachments while placing your request. Please submit all forms to be attached to the paper transcript with the signed Step 2 Authorization page. The Step 2 Authorization page is the final step.We use the signed Step 2 page to process the request and print the forms to attach to the paper transcript.

Request Paper Transcript (Signature Request)

If you are requesting an Indiana University transcript on behalf of a student, you may request electronic and paper transcripts using the Signature Request system. Please follow the steps below.

Request Transcript Online - Signature Request (manually processed)

The Signature Request system is placed online and manually processed. You may request electronic and paper transcripts. Please allow 1-3 business days for processing.The request cannot be processed until the student's handwritten signature has been received and any express delivery fees are paid.

To receive updates on your request, you may list your email address on Step 1 under the Student Information section.

Note: If you request express delivery for a paper transcript, online payment is made using a card (credit or debit) or you mayinclude your payment (check or money order) mailed with the student's handwritten signature.

Please do not send sensitive information via fax. The IU Fax Service currently does not satisfy requirements that enable its use for receiving data that is regulated by PCI DSS, HIPAA, or FERPA. For more information, see https://kb.iu.edu/d/baya.

If you are not able or prefer not to place a request online, you may request IU transcripts by mail.

Please have the student print, complete, and mail in the request form (or sign your own academic transcript release form). If you select to send a paper transcript via express delivery, please include your payment via check or money order.

Official Indiana University transcripts are free. A fee is required on requests to send paper transcripts via express delivery.

Transcript requests are typically processed within 1-3 business days.

Electronic PDF transcripts are accessed via links sent in secure email messages by our vendor, Parchment.

An unofficial transcript does not contain the IU seal or Registrar's signature.

You must be a current or recently enrolled student to view your unofficial transcript. To view your unofficial transcript, login toOne.IUand search for “unofficial transcript". Launch the task "View Unofficial Transcript".

To save your unofficial transcript as a PDF, you may "print" the page and select "Save as PDF".Depending on your browser, you may need to highlight the full transcript before 'printing' to ensure all information is included.

Former students may request an official transcript sent to themselves to then share again. Once an official transcript is accessed, or shared, it is considered an unofficial transcript. Please place a request using a method listed in the Former Students option above.
