Barbara Ann Houston passed into eternal life on May 30, 2021, in Austin, Texas, surrounded by hersons and daughters-in-law.
She was born in San Antonio and grew up in California and New Mexico, graduating from Sandia High School,in Albuquerque. She received her degree in Applied Arts-Interior Design from Texas Tech University and thereafter lived in Llano, Texas for many years, raising her three sons, Alan, Richard and Thomas Houston. An accomplished artist, she was skilled in pottery and painting and was an early member of the Llano Fine Arts Guild. She was involved in manyother Llano organizations, including the Junior Women’s Culture Club, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and schoolparent-teacherorganizations. She later moved to Austin and expanded her love of interior design into a career as a successfulRealtor.
Her faith was of paramount importance – she had a deep relationship with God and was very active in her church. Her most treasured role, however, was being mom to her children and “grandmommy” to her beloved grandchildren, Braden, Micaela, Elise, Coralie, August and Dylan. She had many friends and family who were graced with her love and sense of humor, including her daughters-in-law, Heidi (Alan) and Danica (Thomas), Heather (Richard’s fiancée), her four siblings, Carolyn, Richard, Joan and Stephen, and her many nieces and nephews. Her warmth and generosity will be remembered by all and her love and kindness will be with us forever.
The family plans a small, private service. If desired, donations may be made in her memory to Oxfam International (https://www.oxfamgifts.com/gifts/donate-in-someones-memory/)or Christopher Househospice,in Austin.(https://www.hospiceaustin.org/get-involved/donate/donation-form/)
