Winter Wedding Colors That are Wintery Perfection (2024)

There is something super-romantic about a winter wedding. Who doesn’t love the idea of a warm and cozy wedding full of details like fireplaces, faux-fur muffs, and the scent of pine?! So I thought today I would share a few fun winter wedding colors that would work perfectly to create a beautiful fun winter wedding. Here’s a fun fact: my parents were married the week before Christmas in 1971, and they went full-on holiday with their theme. Check this out:

Winter Wedding Colors That are Wintery Perfection (1)While you might not want to go all-red velvet and fur like my mom a winter wedding has some universal appeal. It was 1971 and there was no Pinterest back then, but I still love the rich tones and seasonal texture. My my loved those fur muffs. I have always loved the idea of a warm cozy intimate wedding or elopement. But a full-on wedding in the winter has some serious pros, and a few cons. If you are seriously considering a winter wedding, read this BWE blog all about the pros and cons of a winter wedding on LBI. One Pro: the fact that you can often find yourself a few wedding bargains in winter–at least in New Jersey.

Winter Wedding Colors | Plum & Grey

There’s nothing like rich shades of plum to make a winter wedding feel luxurious. Paired with shades of grey, this color combination can be the perfect enhancement to a bouquet filled with warm creams, plum, dark pinks, and violets. Your floral options are plentiful with this color combination, but I love the warm organic feel of the flowers pictured below. Oh, and did anyone mention that ultra violet is the Pantone color of the Year for 2018?

Winter Wedding Colors | Olive & Black

A classic winter wedding, perfect for December or even New Years Eve, these winter wedding colors allow for the addition of some really fun details, including accent colors and patterns. For the perfect florals, you can choose tons of mixed greenery, including different types of fern, eucalyptus, and ruscus. Then go crazy and add in different types of white blooms. You do not have to stick with the standard wedding flowers for a winter wedding. In fact, it’s likely you won’t be able to do so affordably. So talk to your florist and find out what can be sourced for the month your planning to get married. You might be surprised by some of the beautiful and unique blooms you can get.

You might not think that this would work, but it was gorgeous! It worked for two reasons, the taupe color in the shawls matched the hue of the gold metallic and the green and red stripes were a muted tone. If they had been bright, this would not have been effective.Winter Wedding Colors That are Wintery Perfection (4)Photo Credit: Jessica Erb Photography

Winter Wedding Colors | Navy & Marsala

Another great combination of winter wedding colors includes navy and marsala. This combination of rich warm tones looks gorgeous with some of the more traditional holiday greens. Remember to incorporate texture and variety. And allow your florist to build a more organic bouquet to avoid a super-structured look and feel. I suspect, if you are planning a winter wedding, you might not be the super-structured type, anyway. Be sure that you are choosing florals that are not too red. Be careful that you don’t end up with a red, white, and blue palette. When choosing white blooms and accents, I would suggest that you lean towards cream or peach instead, and don’t be afraid to vary your shades of blue just a little bit.

Coordinating Your Groomsmen with Your Color Palette

One of the more challenging aspects of the practical application of any wedding color palette is choosing the right shade for menswear. There are a few different ways to simplify your menswear selections and make life just a little easier for your soon-to-be groom and his boys. The Black Tux makes the process of fitting a suit and/or tux a whole lot easier. Ihad a bride and groom use them this fall, and the results were really impressive. In order to fit and properly size their groomsmen,Jessika and Matt chose to have each groomsman send their measurements into The Black Tux. Jessika and Matt began by selecting a look, fit and feel. Then the selected the suit/tux, and details they wanted for each of their groomsmen and the groom. The Black Tux has a fitalgorithm that predicts your groomsmen’s suit sizes based on their measurements. And look how amazing they looked. The process ensured that the color palette, look, fit, and style Jessika had selected were consistent despite that fact that the groomsmen were scattered all over the country.
