What To Wear To A Winter Wedding (2024)

Do you have any winter weddings to attend this season? Or just fancy winter events like charity balls and galas? This is definitely a busy season of events and parties and having the right dresses for the occasion is key. It makes getting dressed much easier.

Today I’m breaking down lots of great looks to consider for our next winter wedding or even winter formal events. From gorgeous velvet dresses, to formal wedding attire and more.

What To Wear To A Winter Wedding (1)

Anything Velvet

Winter wedding guest dresses beg to be in velvet. I think it’s THE fabric for winter. Whether you choose a mini, a maxi, off the shoulder or anything in between. Velvet is always a solid choice.

I love it in a rich jewel tone like today’s hunter green or even a gorgeous plum. It’s luxurious without being expensive. And if you’re heading to a black-tie wedding, a velvet gown is just gorgeous and perfect for the dress code.

Faux Fur Coat

I got my first faux fur coat last year and haven’t really shut up about it. They’re SO good. They’re ideal for staying warm in the winter.

Plus, a fun faux fur coat can also make a simple little black dress feel much more winter wedding guest ready. My ideal wedding winter outfit? A pretty slip dress in a jewel tone topped with a great faux fur coat. Perfection!

Long Sleeve Dress

Since a winter wedding is in the winter when it’s, well, cold out, you may want to choose a long sleeve dress. You could go short (I love this one and it’s on sale) or a full length gown too. A midi length is also great. But long sleeves will keep you warm and ensure your dress is seasonally appropriate.

Winter Florals

The best print for winter. Winter florals are usually a bit moodier in their hues and I simply love that. You can go classic black with a floral print on top, or choose a colorful one. They’re a great print that always feels feminine.

Jumpsuits

In an effort to keep your legs warm, a jumpsuit is a key option for winter weddings. I feel like jumpsuits don’t get the love they deserve when it comes to wedding guest dress options. Just keep in mind colors and fabrics when choosing a jumpsuit.

Jewel Tones

Choose any of the above options, short, long, midi and anything in between in a jewel tone. Jewel tones include deep reds and burgundy, rich greens and royal blues.

Personally, I love a jewel tone and it’s a nice departure from the go-to little black dress. No need to match your accessories to the color either. Black will work just fine, just keep things consistent!

Velvet Wrap Dress

I just love this little wrap dress. It’s flattering and really comfortable. Paired with cognac suede shoes and a leopard bag, it’s all you need. This jewel-tone emerald green can also work with just black heels and a black bag. I promise you don’t have to be matchy matchy! This would be great for a co*cktail attire wedding or even semi-formal if you got more glitzy accessories and did a little bit of an up-do.

Black Winter Floral

This is the perfect look for a winter wedding. From the jacquard fabric to the winter floral print, it is just perfection. Paired with simple black accessories and a sparkly earring and you’re good to go. Fabric is truly everything when it comes to getting the dress code right for the season. This dress is ready for winter!

Jewel Tones

This gorgeous wrap dress has been a favorite this season. It’s actually easy to dress up or down. But I will say, it’s not as fancy as let’s say the velvet wrap. I think it’s the fabric, but this would be good for a co*cktail attire wedding or any winter party you need to go to. More neutral accessories are great for this

Faux Fur Toppers

This look is solely for inspiration here. Obviously, do not wear black jeans to a wedding. But swap out the jeans and black blouse for a little black dress and you’ve got yourself the prettiest winter wedding outfit.

See how a faux fur coat just makes the outfit? It’s so fancy and elegant. Grab a great faux fur coat to keep you cozy and warm while heading to and from your festivities.
