They may not be true raws, but, as a former Canon shooter, I can attest that they work and are mighty handy.
Again, I'm no expert in it, but it seems from what I've read like a high-precision image file in a standardized format would be just as good.
The sRAWs and similar are already demosaiced, if I understand correctly. So I'd think a 16-bit TIFF at reduced resolution (for instance) would work well, retaining most of the color/luminance/etc datathat would otherwise be in a RAW. I'd also think a HEIC at high quality settings (doable now in my A7IV, not sure which other models) would also do very well for practical purposes, though still lose some detail to lossy compression.
For that matter, resolution aside ... I'd be curious to see a good breakdown of how much data is retained in a real Sony real uncompressed/lossless RAW, a lossy RAW, a 16-bit TIFF produced from an original RAW, an HEIC produced in camera, etc. It would probably be illuminating.
