Prue Leith shares reason for Great British Bake Off exit (2024)

The Great British Bake Off star Prue Leith has explained her reasoning for stepping back from the celebrity version of the Channel 4 show. Earlier this week it was confirmed that the 84-year-old would be leaving Celebrity Bake Off – but she’ll remain as a judge on the regular edition.

Explaining her decision to Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard on This Morning on Thursday, March 14, Prue said: “I'm still doing The Great American Baking show, I'm still doing the Great British Bake Off – which is the two main shows of Bake Off. What I'm not doing this year is the celebrity one and it's mainly because these things are filmed back to back the whole way through the summer.

“You start in April and you end at the end of August and honestly you get no time off. I'm getting a bit old and there are places I want to go to and other things I want to do.” Get the best user experience with WalesOnline’s Premium app on Apple or Android
