Is the UCLA Extension respected? ›

UCLA Extension classes and certificates are respected. In general, a UC Extension certificate is not a substitute for a college degree, but it could be considered a valuable supplement to a college degree.

UCLA Extension is accredited, through UCLA, by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Who Can Enroll. As UCLA's principal provider of continuing education, the majority of UCLA Extension courses are designed for the post-baccalaureate professional-level student. Enrollment is typically reserved for adult students 18 years of age and older.

Unfortunately, the reputation of the Harvard Extension School in the eyes of the public is mixed. This is partly because of a large number of HES grads who don't acknowledge they went to the Extension School.

Is UCLA Extension different from UCLA? ›

UCLA classes are part of degree programs. They are open to anyone who has been admitted as a student to the university. UCLA Extension classes are not degree classes and are open to anyone.

In accordance with the UC Academic Senate regulations, UCLA Extension employs the undergraduate grading scale for undergraduate level instruction [+/- , A, B, C, D, F, P, NP]; and the graduate grading scale for graduate and professional level instruction [+/-A, B, C (except C-), F, S, U].
