Prestige Points were a currency used to unlock prestige skins, icons, wards, emotes and Hextech Crafting loot introduced in patch V9.1. Prestige skins are meant to be limited-edition items that are difficult to obtain.[1] Prestige Points were retired in V12.5 and replaced with Mythic Essence.[2]

Obtaining Prestige Points[]
In response to feedback accrued during 2019 and 2020, Riot has announced that they intend to rework how Prestige Skins are earned going forward so that players don't feel like they're forced into picking either the Prestige Skin or the other rewards.[2] Previously planned events for the first half of 2021 will be unaffected except that they will continue reward 2020 Prestige Points. There will not be unique 2021 Prestige Points. The systems update was initially scheduled for mid-2021 release but this has now been pushed back and so additional 2021 events have been included in this transitional model.[3]
The conclusion of the old system will be accompanied with an expanded 2020 Prestige Shop sale that will includes ALL prior Prestige content released in both 2020 and 2021.

There was a Prestige Point (2019) shop for players to cash out.[16] After this year, it was announced that all future event-exclusive skins would be available during the end-of-year sales. Due to exclusivity announcements regarding past skins, Riot chose to honour their limited edition status and did not re-release them.[17]

Prestige Collection[]
Skins
Summoner icons
Emotes
Wards
All Prestige skins are LOOT ELIGIBLE. Prestige skins obtained from loot containers will not include the loading screen border (this is not the case for Prestige skins that were released from 2019 backwards, since they don't have icon so they always come with the loading screen border). Event skins made available in the Prestige Point Sale are made available for 100 Prestige Points, regardless of their initial event currency price.
