The original band is a plain, yellow-gold band, reportedly Meghan’s favorite metal, with a three-stone setting. The three-stone setting was popularized in the Georgian era (1830-37) and it retained its popularity throughout the Victorian era (1820-1914).

For their May 2018 wedding, Meghan Markle wore a plain, yellow gold wedding band. The band was fashioned from Welsh gold, a metal that has been used by the British monarchy since the early 20th century, when Prince Edward was officially appointed Prince of Wales during a July 1911 official ceremony.
