It’s hard to deny the popularity and cult following of In-N-Out Burger. Unlike most fast-food chains, they do a great job of keeping their menu simple, focusing on burgers, fries, and shakes. This simplicity allows them to maintain a high level of quality and consistency in their offerings. Although the menu is straightforward and simple, it is widely known that In-N-Out has a “secret menu”. They allow customers to customize their orders adding an element of exclusivity and personalization to visitor’s dining experience.
In-N-Out's Secret Menu
The In-N-Out secret menu has helped them develop a devoted fan base, and a result, their popularity extends beyond just the food – it has become a cultural phenomenon and a symbol of the West Coast lifestyle.

Burgers
- Hamburger (listed)
- Cheeseburger (listed)
- Double-Double (listed)
- You can also order:
- 3 x 3: three beef chuck patties and three slices of American cheese in a bun
- 4 x 4: four beef chuck patties and four slices of American cheese in a bun
- 2 x 4’s, 4 x 2’s, or 1 x 4 all available in a bun
- Grilled cheese: two slices of American cheese melted in a bun – you can add lettuce, tomato, raw onion and grilled onions
- Protein style: the burger is in a lettuce wrap
- Wish burger: A vegetarian burger with lettuce, slied tomatoes, onions, spread, and pickles
- Animal style: fried mustard, grilled onions, pickles, and extra Thousand Island spread
- Monkey/Gorilla Style: any burger with animal fries in the middle – most stores will not make this combination
- Onion Bun: whole grilled onions on either side of your burger instead of a bun
- Tomato Bun: tomato slices on either side of your burger instead of a bun
- Mustard-grilled: they add some mustard to the top of the patty before flipping it so that it sizzles into the meat on the grill
- Flying Dutchman: two slices of cheese melted between two burger patties (no buns) – also available animal style
- Shaggy/Scooby snack/ Puppy patty: for your dog, a non-seasoned beef patty

In-N-Out takes a huge amount of pride in the freshness of their food, and everything is made to order. This means that from store to store (all of which are family owned), the taste and quality of their food will be remarkably uniform.
UPDATE: In-N-Out Burger adds new menu items
It is so rare that In-No-Out makes a change or addition to the menu. In December 2023, they announced that the are adding two new drink options to its menus nationwide: Cherry co*ke and Lite Pink Lemonade.

If you got to alameda California they had an ultimate secret menu located off the back of your receipt. You have to scan the code 3 times for it to actually work and omg MY LIFE WAS COMPLETELY CHANGED.

You can also order fries “light well” to get them extra crispy but not quite well done
