Because nuts contain a high percentage of oil, they can become rancid more quickly in warm weather. You can store them at room temperature for up to a month. But after that, place nuts in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to six months or in the freezer for up to a year. To freshen any type of nuts before you eat (or cook with) them, toast on a baking sheet in a 350 degrees F oven for 10 minutes or place nuts in a small bowl and microwave on High for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes.
