MALAYSIAN PREMIUM FISHThe Malaysian Mahseer, also known as Ikan Kelah, is a highly valued fish in Malaysia, both for its taste and nutritional value. It’s considered a sport, ornamental, and food fish, with market prices reaching up to RM 400 per kg for its unique flesh texture and taste. However, the species faces threats from habitat degradation and overfishing, leading to a decline in wild populations. Efforts are being made to improve its conservation and fish farming industry to ensure its sustainability.
