Back in March, four-star running back Akylin Dear committed to Ole Miss football. It was a great pickup for the Rebels, but it doesn't seem like Dear is done weighing all of his options despite already being committed. Dear has a lot of good offers, and he recently decided that he is going to take an official visit to Alabama football. Dear will be in Tuscaloosa from June 14th until the 16th.
“UPDATE: The #1 RB in the country, Akylin Dear has scheduled an official visit to Alabama on June 14-16, per Joseph Hastings,” Recruits.bama said in an Instagram post. “He is currently committed to Ole Miss.”
It's not uncommon to see a player still taking visits after being committed to a different school. Sometimes, nothing comes of it and the player stays committed. Other times, the player finds a better fit and they decide to change up their commitment. We'll see what happens with Akylin Dear after he takes his official visit to Alabama football despite his Ole Miss football pledge.
Alabama has been recruiting Dear hard lately as they took a visit to see him back in April. Dear has shown interest in the Crimson Tide since Nick Saban was the head coach, and Kalen DeBoer taking over didn't change things.
“He just helped lead Washington to a national championship game,” Dear said of Kalen DeBoer, according to an article from On3. “When I first met him, it was crazy. My heart was beating because I was wondering what he was going to think of me. He’s a great guy.”
It's tough to know what Dear is feeling after he locked in his official visit to Alabama, but it seems like it would be hard to pull him away from Ole Miss. He is from the state of Mississippi, and he loves the Rebels.
“It was a difficult [decision] because there was a lot of places to go play at,” Dear said. “But I’m from Mississippi, ya know? It’s great to be staying home. Ain’t anything better than the ‘Sip.”

Akylin Dear is four-star prospect according to247Sports,and he is the #31 overall player in the class of 2025. He is the #2 RB in the class, and he is the #2 player in the state of Mississippi. He currently attends Quitman High School in Quitman, Mississippi.
There's a reason why Dear is ranked so highly as a prospect. He can do just about everything that you can ask from a RB. Here is what the On3 scouts and rankings team wrote about his game.
“True three-down back that has all of the physical, athletic and technical ability to walk in and carry the load for an offense the day he steps on campus. He has the frame to add the necessary mass in order to become a bell cow back. Stands in at 6’0, 200 pounds with an advanced physical build. Strong, between the tackles runner who is light on his feet with excellent wiggle. Has the top end speed to hit the homerun ball. Great forward body lean that runs behind his pads making him a load to bring down for defenders. Comfortable pass catcher and ball tracker downfield. Put together strong workouts in the spring camp setting prior to his senior season. One of the most complete players in the entire 2025 recruiting cycle.”
Akylin Dear is going to be good in college, and right now, he is locked in to attend Ole Miss. We'll see his official visit to Alabama football changes anything.
