This step-by-step tutorial will help you DIY your grooms and groomsmen boutonnieres with easy instructions, and you will save you lots of money towards your wedding budget. An average boutonniere can cost more than $25 each. You will pay a fraction of the cost if you DIY your boutonnieres.

Supplies you will need:
1 stem of Freedom Rose
2 stems of Pittosporum
2 stems of Seeded Eucalyptus
2 stems of Thistle Eryngium
Floral Tape
Ribbon
Straight Pins
Boutonniere Pins
Floral Scissors
Paring Knife

Step 1 – Cut one freedom rose bloom stem, leaving approx. 3- 3 1/2” of the stem. Pinch the outer guard petals off the bloom.
Step 2 – Cut pittosporum stem the same length as you cut the rose. Position the freedom rose bloom together with one stem of the pittosporum.

Step 3 – Place the thistle in front of the rose and pittosporum and layer together. Hold stems tightly to build the structure of the boutonniere for a natural feel.
Step 4 – Cut small pieces of the seeded eucalyptus stem. Nestle 1-2 stems in-between the rose, pittosporum, and thistle.

Step 5 – Hold all stems tightly together.Start wrapping the floral tape at the top of the stem under the rose bloom. Tape downward around the stems leaving approximately 1/3” of the stems showing at the bottom of the boutonniere. Cut the floral tape.
Step 6 – Use floral clippers to trim the bottom of the stems.

Step 7- To give your boutonniere a finished appearance, you will wrap the stems in the ribbon of your choice! Choose a ribbon 5/8” in width. Cut a piece of ribbon 8” long.

Step 8 – Hold one end of the ribbon against where the tape begins on top under the bloom. Pin the ribbon in place and wrap the ribbon downward overlapping ribbon. Cover the full length of the floral tape on stems.

Step 9 – Use a pin to secure the end of the ribbon, being careful not to poke your fingers with the end of the pin.
Step 10- Beautiful boutonniere for your groom!

2 stems of Red Hypericum
2 stems of cut Thistle Eryngium
2 stems of Pittosporum
1 cut stem of Seeded Eucalyptus
Floral Tape
Ribbon
Straight Pins

Step 1 – Cut two stems of the red hypericum, leaving approx. 3- 3 1/2” of the stem. Pair together.
Step 2 – Cut thistle stem the same length as you cut the red hypericum. Nestle the thistle together with the red hypericum. Hold stems tightly together.

Step 3 – Pair 1-2 stems of pittosporum and layer together behind the red hypericum. Hold stems tightly together.
Step 6 – Use floral clippers to trim the bottom of the stems.

Step 7- To give your boutonniere a finished appearance, you will wrap the stems in the ribbon of your choice! Use a that is ribbon 5/8” in width. Cut the ribbon 8” long.

Step 9 – Pin the end of the ribbon, being careful not to poke your fingers with the end of the pin.
Step 10 – Use a pearl boutonniere pin to attach to lapel!
