Best Ending is an ending in Sonic.exe: Spirits of Hell and Sally.exe: Whisper of Soul.
As the name suggests, it is the best possible outcome of the two games, where Exeller is defeated and all of the victims survive. It can also be referred to as the True Ending, as all other endings end with the timeline being reset.

Route[]
Sonic.exe: The Spirits of Hell[]
The requirements are mainly self-explanatory. For this ending, the player must all get Tails, Knuckles and Robotnik to reach the Hidden Palace and then clear Sky Sanctuary.
Tails lands back on solid ground after clearing Act 3, where Knuckles is glad that the fox is okay, but Robotnik points out that this will all have been an illusion and that they need to escape. As he says this, a Big Ring appears behind them as Exeller screams in fury. He flies towards them, attempting to kill them, but Sonic resists his possession and yells at Tails to run. The player can then choose to try and help Sonic or escape, but they must choose the latter to get this ending. Tails will apologize to Sonic as the three victims jump into the Big Ring.
Tails, Knuckles and Robotnik then arrive in Mountain Peak, where they turn to watch the view. Tails proudly comments that they finally made it as Robotnik admits how strange this adventure was and Knuckles wonders what he'll do now. Tails tells Knuckles and Robotnik not to give up, as they are now safe. The credits then roll, and the results screen plays a triumphant theme as the game says "Congratulations, you win!" A teaser for Sally.exe: The Whisper of Soul is then shown, where Amy and Cream split up to search for Cheese while Exeller appears behind them, asking if the player is ready for round two.

Unlike in Round 1, the Best Ending is locked at first, and cannot be obtained unless the player has gotten every other ending in the game that gives the player a gold star. If the player tries to get this ending before the requirements are fulfilled, then after the Data Select phase is finished the player will be sent to a black screen with Exeller, informing them that it isn't that easy to get the Best Ending. He then informs the player of the requirements and advises them to use the Level Select if they are having trouble, or just give up and watch someone else get the ending online. With that, the game closes.
(This section is unfinished)Cream and Tails Doll continue to flee through Volcano Valley as Exebark chases them, but Amy drops in to save them. After performing 3 consecutive QTEs to avoid Exebark's attacks, Amy manages to escape up onto a cliff where Exebark cannot reach them, and sees that Cream and Tails Doll made it too. Amy asks what's wrong with the rabbit, and Tails Doll explains that he has protected her all the way to the zone. Amy asks why, and Tails Doll informs her that he is one of Robotnik's machines. He states that he obtained free will due to an error in his programming, most likely caused when Execun attacked him earlier. He also states that protecting Cream was the first choice he'd ever made - although his primary objective is to take the red Chaos Emerald to Freedom City to keep it safe.
Tails Doll then explains that Cream used the Chaos Emerald to save him from being destroyed, but she used the emerald's negative energy which is causing her condition. Amy remembers that Sonic and Robotnik used to be friends before the latter turned evil after being exposed to negative chaos energy. Sally then arrives and asks what's going on, and while Amy is glad she's alive, Sally is suspicious, asking what they did to Cream. Amy is cross that Sally would accuse her of harming Cream,
There are six alternate versions of the Best Ending - four for failing Acts 1-4 of Freedom Assault, one for failing VS Metal Sonic and one for failing VS Ultimate Execun or the QTE prior to the fight. Upon getting one of these failed endings, Alice will reset the timeline back to before the failure but she can only do this 3 times. If the player fails to reach Illusion World 4 times, then they will get the Worst Ending.
1. Failing Freedom Assault Act 1[]
If Sally is unsuccessful in defending the generators then Sally will end up becoming exhausted from the explosion. Realizing that she failed her mission she calls Knuckles to see if everything is alright, Knuckles responds saying that the creatures are entering the tower. Sally, realizing that Knuckles was in danger of being killed, decides to call Tails next. Tails answers Sally's call, and Sally asks if he is okay, Tails responds no saying that the Creatures are breaking in, Sally tells him to respond back to him, but there is no response. Exeller then approaches Sally. Out of anger Sally pulls out her fire sword, however Exeller doesn't seem to care. Exeller then tells her that Freedom City is doomed to be infested with Monsters in just a few short minutes. Sally, not having any other ideas, then decides to make a deal with Exeller to give up her soul and save all of the other citizens of Freedom City from the monsters. Exeller accepts the deal and tells her to take his hand to which Sally does. This causes all of the citizens to be teleported out of the city and to safety. Sally thought that this was it but Exeller asks her if she wanted to say her final goodbyes to her friends. She then calls Knuckles again, Knuckles answers and says that some citizens have disappeared.
He then says that the monsters were approaching him, before being cut off and most likely killed. Sally then calls Tails again as well, Tails responds to her saying that he locked himself in the security room and implies that Cream has died, he tells Sally that he is also going to die and lets her know that Robotnik and Amy have died as well, Tails presumably dies a few seconds after that. Sally, having learned that all her friends have been killed, gets infuriated at Exeller for breaking their deal. Exeller then tells her that he teleported the "Citizens" of the city but reminds her that her friends are not really citizens. Sally then yells back at Exeller, telling him that he knew exactly what she meant. Exeller replies saying that he did, but "that's how deals work". Exeller then takes Sally's soul and tells Sally to have better luck next time in another life. It then cuts to Alice who depending on how many times the player has failed, will either reset the timeline back to before the failure or not have enough power leading to the Worst Ending.
2. Failing Freedom Assault Act 2[]
If Knuckles Fails to collect all of the Shards, instead of giving the player a failure cutscene it immediately cuts to Alice.
3. Failing Freedom Assault Act 3[]
If Robotnik Fails to Evade from Exebi then, Sally and Knuckles search for the last generators, Knuckles suggested sally called tails to see if its near his area, Sally think he might be right, but she gets the feeling of deja vu, but decides to forget about it and decides to move on, Both her and Knuckles leave the room, Exebi then follows the both of them and kills them both, Tails monitors the cams to get a respond from anyone Cream asked if everything was ok, Tails said that everyone was strangley silent, Cream had a feeling that they might of perished, Tails dosen't hope that her words are true since they needed the generators turned on, the lights go out, tails then tells Cream to get behind him, a low roar can be heard,Cream and Tails are then killed shortly later, meanwhile Metal Sonic, Corrupted Tails, Cream and Sally slowy approach a distressed amy who was having trauma over metal sonic, and she then soon dies offscreen aswell.

- All of Exebi's themes in his battles in Sky Sanctuary are remixes of all three acts of Chaos Angel Zone from Sonic Advance 3.
- Exebark's chase theme is the Prowler theme from Spiderman: Into the Spider-verse.
- This is one of the few copyrighted songs in the game.
- This theme has also been used in meme culture.
- The best ending in Whisper of Soul is noticeably a lot longer than Sonic.exe: The Spirits of Hell's best ending, and arguably the most difficult.
- Sadly, this ending mostly ends on a cliffhanger, as Dan stopped developing the DLC follow-up nearly a year after.
